Where We Live.

Here is the street where we live. I took this picture from our window. We are on the 3rd floor. It’s a great street—very quiet and safe—lots of young families.

Here is our little abode.

Our second bedroom. This is where Wes sleeps from time to time. Just kidding babes--love you. We also obviously have a main bedroom and kitchen, but just haven't taken pictures of them.

Here’s our street again—in the winter.

This is the Albert Cuypmarkt where I do most of my grocery shopping. The market makes up an entire street for about a few blocks. The vendors sell anything and everything—fruit, veggies, fresh fish, spices, cheese and even toenail clippers (not at the same stall though—thank goodness). :)

The following are pictures around town.

This is the Dam square—where Amsterdam started.

Me and the in-laws walking around Dam square.

Very center of Amsterdam . . .where you’ll find those special gifts for loved ones. But really, Amsterdam is definitely not like this all over. What you may read or see on tv about Amsterdam, is definitely not what the city is all about. The Dutch are actually a very mannered culture.

And so, to avoid finding yourself sitting in a “special” coffee shop when all you want is a dang cappuccino . . .the green and white sign on the door will give you a clue. Again, it's not like these shops are everywhere and in your face.

Me and Amanda in Amsterdam visiting us after she got engaged in Ireland! Check out her ring!

Wes and Paul. Wes is toasting to the newly engaged couple.

This is one of my Amsterdam friends, Adri. We are in the same boat here . . .basically jobless. So we try to get together once a week for some kind of cultural/learning experience. The other week we went to a Dead Bodies Exhibition—lemme tell ya, that was delightful.

Here’s Wes and Adri’s fiancé, Henk, watching South African rugby. Apparently, it was stripped-shirt night at the local bar. :)

And this is Adri as an Ape. We are not sure why she put on the monkey hat or where she found it, but it does wonders for her skin tone, nonetheless.

Thanks for viewing our pics!
